Fonlok (fonlok.com) is operated by BranCodeX, based in Cameroon. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information collected when you use our escrow payment platform.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly:

  • Name and email address (when you register)
  • Phone number (for mobile money payouts)
  • Invoice details (amounts, descriptions, counterparty emails)
  • Messages sent through dispute or contact forms

We also collect information automatically:

  • IP address and device type
  • Cookies used for authentication (session tokens)
  • Pages visited and actions taken on the platform

3. How we use your information

  • To process and manage escrow transactions
  • To verify your identity and prevent fraud
  • To send transaction notifications and receipts by email
  • To resolve disputes between buyers and sellers
  • To improve the platform based on how it is used
  • To comply with our legal obligations under Cameroonian law

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Payment processors (CamPay) to facilitate Mobile Money transactions
  • Email services (SendGrid) to send notifications and receipts
  • Law enforcement where required by law or to investigate fraud

5. Cookies

Fonlok uses a single authentication cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is essential for the platform to function. It is removed when you log out or after a period of inactivity. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access.

7. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Transaction records are retained for a minimum of 5 years to comply with Cameroonian financial record-keeping requirements. You may request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Object to certain uses of your data

9. Children

Fonlok is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Continued use of Fonlok after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
