How Fonlok works
A simple, five-step process that protects both the buyer and the seller — from the first invoice to the final payout.
Seller
Create an invoice
Log in to Fonlok, enter your email address, the agreed amount in XAF, and a short description of what you are selling. The invoice and a unique payment link are created instantly.
Seller
Share the payment link
Copy the unique payment link Fonlok generated for your invoice and send it to your buyer by WhatsApp, SMS, or any messaging app. No account needed on their end.
Buyer
Pay with Mobile Money
The buyer opens the link and pays using MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money. The money goes into Fonlok's secure escrow account — not directly to the seller yet.
Seller
Deliver the goods or service
Once Fonlok confirms the payment, you are notified. You then deliver whatever you agreed to — physical goods, a service, digital files, or anything else.
Both sides
Confirm and receive payment
The buyer marks the order as received. Fonlok immediately releases the money to the seller's account, minus the 3% service fee. Done.
What happens in edge cases?
What if the buyer never confirms delivery?
If the buyer does not confirm within the agreed window, Fonlok sends a reminder. If there is still no response, our team reviews the evidence and steps in to resolve it fairly.
What if there is a dispute?
Either party can open a dispute from their dashboard. Fonlok freezes the funds and asks both sides for evidence. Our team reviews and makes a final decision — funds are either released to the seller or refunded to the buyer.
What if the seller does not deliver?
The buyer can open a dispute. If the seller cannot provide proof of delivery, Fonlok refunds the buyer, but in this case, the buyer pays the service fee of 3% from the refunded amount.
Is the money safe while it is in escrow?
Yes. Funds held by Fonlok are ring-fenced and cannot be accessed by the seller until delivery is confirmed. They also cannot be accessed by Fonlok for any other purpose.
